This photo, of a sign we discovered while walking down Gladstone
Avenue in Fernwood, (astonishingly this was *after* we'd made our
plans with Karolyn Grimes) seems to sum up everything we have in
mind for the "wonderful life in Fernwood" event.

We've done a bit of research to learn what people think about
Fernwood.... During February 2009 (the 1st annual Fernwood Month of
Love) over 250 people submitted their free raffle forms to the
Collective Works Gallery in hopes of winning gifts from the
wonderful businesses in the community. We saw the raffle as an
opportunity to discover what people were thinking, so on the raffle
tickets, the entrants were able to write what they love about
Fernwood (if they wanted to). The majority of people had something
to say. We discovered that the love of Fernwood is based on the
atmosphere of arts, great food, friendly diverse people, the
heritage, the parks and gardens. One person said "ghosts", another
said "acceptance" and six said "EVERYTHING!" There *is* a lot to
love in this community.
